BusNSW’s Signal for Help program aims to raise awareness of mental health issues in the bus and coach industry and encourages employees and their colleagues and managers to “signal for help” when they encounter a mental health issue, and to access appropriate resources and support.

Listed below are a number of organisations that specialise in providing support and learning resources to people affected by mental health issues. Please reach out to them or to your GP or mental health professional for further information and advice.

Beyond Blue

Beyond Blue is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that has been providing mental health information and support for over 20 years. Beyond Blue is focused on supporting people affected by anxiety, depression and suicide.

Black Dog Institute

Black Dog Institute is an independent not-for-profit medical research institute affiliated with UNSW Sydney. It is the only medical research institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, and provides information, digital tools and apps for diagnosing and managing mental health.

Lifeline

Lifeline is a national charity providing digital and face to face suicide prevention crisis support services.  Lifeline’s telephone, text, and online crisis support services receive over 1 million contacts a year and their training programs build awareness in the community.

Lifeline is available 24 hours a day to listen, without judgement to any person in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, experiencing crisis or longs to be heard.

Mindspot

MindSpot is a clinical mental health service. They deliver psychological services via telephone and online to adults across Australia and employ and train mental health professionals to deliver care.

Most people using MindSpot suffer from depression, anxiety, and stress but they also support people in distress due to chronic health conditions. All Mindspot services are free and confidential.

MensLine Australia offers free professional 24/7 telephone counselling support for men with concerns about mental health, anger management, family violence (using and experiencing), addiction, relationship, stress and wellbeing.
